Short answer

To find polo shirts exporters in Bangladesh you can rely on, run one written checklist on every candidate: maker status as manufacturer-exporter or trading exporter, one legal name across licence, quotation and payment account, an Export Registration Certificate that matches, association claims confirmed at the source, samples approved in writing, an AQL inspection plan, and export documents agreed in advance.

Key takeaways

  • A polo shirt exporter is tested on records, not listings: maker status, documents, samples and inspection, all in writing.

  • A manufacturer-exporter makes in its own factory; a trading exporter places production with a factory it selects. Record which model you contract with.

  • One legal name must match across the trade licence, the Export Registration Certificate, the quotation and the payment account.

  • MOQ, price and lead time are set by each exporter for your specification, so compare itemized quotations on one tech pack and one Incoterm.

  • Exportain verification is a document and photo review, not a factory inspection, and a badge is not a guarantee.

Finding polo shirts exporters in Bangladesh is not the hard part. The hard part is telling, before you pay, which exporter can make your exact shirt, export it under a name that matches its documents, and stand behind a sample you approved in writing. This checklist tests each candidate the same way.

The Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), established in 1996, is the apex trade body for the knitwear sector and currently represents approximately 2,540 knitwear member factories.1 Knitwear exports reached $5.963 billion in July to September 2026, up 6.88 percent year on year, within ready-made garment exports of $10.578 billion, according to data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).2 That scale does not tell you which exporter should get your order, and this guide names no company and ranks none.

Why this checklist matters

Most sourcing failures are paperwork failures first. An exporter trades under one name, invoices under a second, and asks for payment to a third. A trading exporter presents a factory it does not own as its own, so you inspect the wrong facility. A sample is approved in a phone call, so there is no written standard when bulk arrives. A checklist fixes the order of work: confirm who the exporter is and how it produces before you compare its price.

Before you start

Fix the specification first. Write one tech pack and send the same pack to every candidate: fabric composition and knit type, fabric weight, collar and cuff construction, placket and button type, size chart, logo method and placement, label wording, and packing. Without those points in writing, each exporter quotes a different shirt.

Record the classification. In the Harmonized System, heading 6105 covers men's or boys' shirts, knitted or crocheted, split by fiber into 610510 for cotton, 610520 for man-made fibers, and 610590 for other textile materials.3 Confirm the full national code for your style in your destination tariff. See the HS code for polo shirts guide.

Write the label wording before sampling. If you sell into the European Union, Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 states that a textile product shall be labelled or marked with the name and percentage by weight of all constituent fibres in descending order, and that labelling must be durable, easily legible, visible and accessible.4

Expect no standard figures. Each exporter sets its own minimum order quantity (MOQ), price and lead time for your specification, driven by fabric and dye lots, collar and placket set-up, logo work and label runs. Ask each candidate for its figures in writing. See the MOQ definition guide.

  1. Build the longlist from more than one route. Combine association and directory listings with marketplace profiles. BKMEA represents the knitwear sector and its member factories,1 and find suppliers in Bangladesh sets out the sourcing routes.

  2. State the maker status in writing. A manufacturer-exporter cuts and sews in its own factory and exports its own production. A trading exporter places production with a factory it selects, then exports under its own arrangements. Both models can deliver. Record which model you are contracting with, and name the producing factory in the purchase order.

  3. Match one legal name across every paper. Compare the name on the trade licence with the quotation, the proforma invoice and the payment account. If the names differ, get corrected documents before any payment.

  4. Check the export registration. Ask to see the Export Registration Certificate (ERC) and check that it carries the same legal name. On Exportain, the Export Verified badge means Exportain has checked the seller's ERC,5 and staff review every submission before a badge is approved.6

  5. Confirm association claims at the source. If an exporter claims BKMEA membership, confirm the claim with the association itself. Membership signals an active knitwear business; it does not show the company can produce your shirt.

  6. Compare itemized quotations on one tech pack. Ask each candidate to price fabric, collar and placket work, logo work, labels, finishing and packing as separate lines.

  7. Get the MOQ per style and per color in writing. Ask for the minimum per style and per color, any separate label, tag and carton minimums, and which line is binding for your split.

  8. Approve samples in writing. Order a proto sample, then a pre-production sample in your actual fabric, color, collar, placket, logo and labels. Measure and wash it, then approve it, or list corrections, in writing.

  9. Agree the inspection plan before production. Write the inspection level and acceptance quality limit (AQL) values into the purchase order. ISO 2859-1 defines a system of acceptance sampling plans for inspection by attributes, indexed by acceptance quality limit (AQL) for lot-by-lot inspection, and AQL determines sample sizes and acceptance or rejection thresholds.7 Use the polo shirts quality control checklist for garment-level points.

  10. Compare every quotation on one delivery term. The Incoterms 2020 rules set out 11 rules with a clear allocation of cost, risk and obligations.8 State one rule and named place in every quotation, the purchase order and the invoice.

  11. Agree the export document set in advance. For export clearance in Bangladesh, goods may not be loaded unless an export declaration, the Bill of Export or Shipping Bill, is submitted to Customs and approved.9 Enclosed documents include the export contract or purchase order where there is no export letter of credit, the commercial invoice, the packing list, the EXP form certified by an authorized dealer, and a certificate of origin issued by the EPB or a Chamber of Commerce and Industry.9

  12. Read facility evidence for what it records. Factory Verified means Exportain has reviewed photos of the manufacturer's factory, while Trading Company Verified means it has reviewed photos of the trading company office or warehouse.5 A badge is not a guarantee of production capacity, product quality or delivery, and verification is a document review by staff, free, and never granted by membership plans.5 6

Common failures and how to fix them

The name mismatch. The licence, quotation and payment account carry different names. Fix: stop at item 3 and obtain corrected documents before any payment.

The hidden trading model. You believe you contracted with a factory, but production was placed elsewhere and your inspection visits the wrong site. Fix: require the maker status in writing at item 2, with the producing factory named in the order.

The list treated as verification. A directory entry or profile is read as proof that an exporter can make your shirt. Fix: treat every listing as a starting point, then run the document, sample and inspection items. See polo shirts manufacturers in Bangladesh.

The verbal approval. The sample or a lower MOQ is agreed in a call, and bulk follows a different understanding. Fix: approve the sample in writing, and record any agreed minimum on the order.

The unmatched comparison. Quotations differ in fabric weight, collar or delivery term, so the lowest price buys a different shirt. Fix: re-quote every candidate on the identical tech pack and the same Incoterm,8 and compare line by line.

How Exportain helps

On Exportain, browse suppliers in the knitwear categories, read each profile for its products, maker status and badges, and post a request for quotation (RFQ) on the RFQ board with your tech pack summary, split per color and delivery term. When you accept a quotation, Exportain creates one order and issues one proforma invoice from the accepted terms.5

Exportain Verified means Exportain has checked identity, phone, email and business registration, and Export Verified means it has checked the Export Registration Certificate (ERC).5 Verification is a document review by Exportain staff, not a factory inspection,5 6 so the sample and inspection items in this checklist stay with you. FAQs

When should this checklist be used?

Use it before a first order with any polo shirt exporter, before a repeat order on a changed specification, and whenever an exporter changes its legal name, production model or producing factory. The checks are cheap at enquiry stage and expensive after production.

Who should complete it?

The buyer completes it, or sourcing staff acting for the buyer. The exporter supplies the evidence: licence and ERC copies, the itemized quotation, samples and document drafts. Keep the completed checklist with the purchase order.

What are the most common failures?

They are a legal name that differs across the licence, quotation and payment account, a trading model that stays unstated until inspection, a listing or badge read as proof of capacity, a sample approved verbally, and quotations compared on different specifications or delivery terms.8 Each one is a fact available at enquiry stage that was never written down.

Can a third party do it?

Yes, in part. An inspection company or a sourcing agent can collect documents, check names, attend the factory and inspect bulk against your approved sample and AQL plan.7 Keep two decisions with the buyer: the written sample approval and the final acceptance of the lot.
