Cookies and browser storage

1. Browser local storage

Exportain stores these things in your browser's local storage, on the exportain.com origin and its portals:

• Sign-in token. Issued when you sign in and used to authenticate your requests until you sign out or it expires. Signing out removes it.
• Inquiry basket. The products you have added to your inquiry basket and the quantity and Incoterm you chose for each, so they are still there when you return. Sending the inquiries or removing the items clears it.
• Recently viewed. The products you opened on this device, so the home and category pages can show them again. The list is kept in your browser; to show it, the page asks us for those products' current details, and we do not store the list.

Each is needed for the feature it supports and is not used for tracking.

2. Cookies set by our providers

Exportain is served through Cloudflare, which may set cookies needed to protect the site from automated abuse. These are strictly necessary for the site to operate and contain no personal profile.

3. Analytics and marketing cookies (only if you allow them)

When you first visit, our cookie banner asks for your choice. You can allow or refuse analytics and marketing cookies separately. Necessary cookies (section 1 and 2) are always on.

Analytics. Exportain records which pages and products you view and which actions you take (for example searching or sending a quote request) in its own event records, together with a random visitor id, a per-tab session id and which campaign brought you (the campaign tags in the link, the first page you landed on and the referring site, kept in a first-party cookie named exportain_attr for 90 days). No name, email address or phone number is part of these records.

Marketing. We use the Meta Pixel and Meta's Conversions API to measure our ads on Facebook and Instagram, and load Google Tag Manager for Google's measurement tools. Meta and Google set their own cookies and receive information about your visit (pages viewed, browser and device, referring site, an approximate location from your IP address). For actions you take while signed in, Meta receives a one-way hash of your email address and phone number and of your account id — and, when you allow both analytics and marketing, of the random visitor id described below — never the values themselves, your messages, quote request texts or documents. Inside the signed-in dashboards the Meta Pixel runs in a reduced mode that does not read page content.

Without your permission none of this runs. Google Tag Manager itself loads on our public pages, but until you answer we tell Google's tags (Google Consent Mode) that analytics and advertising storage are refused: they set no cookies and do not identify you. None of it ever runs on pages whose address contains a one-time sign-in or verification code.

Your answer is saved in a cookie namedexportain_consent on exportain.com and its subdomains, so one answer covers the marketplace and the portals. It is kept for one year, after which we ask again. You can change your answer at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page on exportain.com, which reopens the banner; withdrawing removes the cookies we can identify and stops the tools from loading.

If you allow analytics cookies, we also set a cookie named exportain_vid: a random identifier, with no name, email or device details in it, that lets us suggest products related to what you browse while signed out. It is kept for one year. If you do not allow analytics, it is not set, or it is deleted together with the browsing history recorded under it. When you sign in, that history moves to your account and the identifier is replaced with a new one.

4. Managing storage

You can clear local storage and cookies for exportain.com in your browser settings. Doing so signs you out and empties your inquiry basket.
