Short answer

Use this checklist to evaluate knitted underwear exporters in Bangladesh before ordering: confirm the legal name and whether the supplier sews or trades, classify styles under headings 6107 and 6108, send one specification to every candidate, confirm MOQ per style, color and size, proof labels for your market, and agree inspection and export documents in the purchase order.

Key takeaways

  • Compare exporters on evidence, not claims: one legal name across quotation, invoice and payment account, with the sewing factory and subcontracted steps named in writing.

  • BKMEA represents approximately 2,540 knitwear member factories, and knitwear exports reached $5.963 billion in July to September 2026, per EPB data reported by The Financial Express.

  • Men's knitted underwear classifies under heading 6107 and women's under heading 6108, split by fibre at subheading level, so confirm the full code with your broker.

  • MOQ is set per style, per color and per size, with separate minimums for branded waistband elastic, labels, tags and retail packs, so confirm all of them before paying for samples.

  • Exportain badges record document and photo reviews, not factory inspections, and a badge is not a guarantee of capacity, quality or delivery.

If you buy knitted underwear, this checklist helps you evaluate exporters in Bangladesh on evidence rather than on a sales claim. The seller may sew the garments itself, place production elsewhere as a buying office, or trade finished stock.

The supply base is large enough to compare. The Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) is the apex trade body for the knitwear sector and represents approximately 2,540 knitwear member factories.1 Knitwear exports reached $5.963 billion in July to September 2026, within ready-made garment exports of $10.578 billion, per EPB data reported by The Financial Express.2 Scale alone does not qualify a supplier. See knitted underwear manufacturers in Bangladesh.

Why this checklist matters

Underwear is a fit product sold in size sets and multipacks, so a supplier error repeats quietly: a waistband elastic that loses recovery, a size ratio that does not match your assortment, or a content label that does not match the fabric.

A written checklist makes exporters comparable: every candidate answers the same questions on the same specification and term. BKMEA represents the knitwear sector,1 while the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) represents the readymade garment industry and reports around 4,500 member factories.3 A membership claim is a starting point, not evidence of underwear capacity.

Before you start

Do not score suppliers until your documents are complete: a specification per style stating garment type, fabric and weight, waistband type, gusset construction, size chart with tolerances, size ratio, pack format and labels.

Set the classification early. Heading 6107 covers men's or boys' underpants, briefs and similar articles, knitted or crocheted.4 Heading 6108 covers women's or girls' slips, briefs, panties and similar articles, with briefs and panties split by fibre (610821 cotton, 610822 man-made fibres).5 See the HS code for knitted underwear guide.

Fix one delivery term for every quotation: the Incoterms 2020 rules set out 11 rules with a clear allocation of cost, risk and obligations,6 so a lower price on a different term is a different offer. Prepare label content before bulk printing: for the European Union, Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 requires the name and percentage by weight of all constituent fibres in descending order,7 the United Kingdom version states the same rule for multi-fibre products,8 and for the United States, 16 CFR Part 303 governs fibre disclosure including generic names9 while 16 CFR Part 423 requires care instructions on permanent labels.10

Agree the inspection method before ordering: ISO 2859-1 specifies an acceptance sampling system for inspection by attributes, indexed by the acceptance quality limit (AQL).11 Name the method and the thresholds per defect class in the purchase order.

The full checklist (numbered, printable)

Work through the list per candidate. A line that cannot be answered is a finding, not a detail to settle later.

Identity and export standing

  1. Record the supplier's full legal name, and check the same name appears on the quotation, proforma invoice and payment account.

  2. Record whether the supplier sews your order itself or trades, and name the sewing factory if it trades.

  3. Record the factory address separately from head office, and where knitting, dyeing, cutting, sewing and packing happen.

  4. Confirm any BKMEA or BGMEA membership claim: BKMEA represents approximately 2,540 knitwear member factories,1 and BGMEA around 4,500 member factories.3

  5. Read Exportain badges for what they record: Exportain Verified covers identity, phone, email and business registration; Export Verified covers the Export Registration Certificate (ERC).12

  6. Note what a badge does not show: verification is a document and photo review, not a factory inspection or a guarantee of capacity, quality or delivery.12

Product and specification fit

  1. Send the same specification version to every candidate, and record the version sent.

  2. Confirm the supplier produces knitted underwear in your styles and fabrics, such as cotton or cotton with elastane, not knitwear in general.

  3. Confirm the classification split: heading 6107 for men's or boys' underpants and briefs,4 and heading 6108 for women's or girls' briefs and panties.5

  4. Ask which steps are in-house and which are subcontracted, including elastic supply, printing and packing.

  5. Check the supplier can produce your labels and packing: size, care and content labels, branded waistband, individual bags or retail multipacks, and carton marks.

  6. Record any proposed change, such as a substitute fabric, elastic or gusset material, to approve or reject. OEM buyers can prepare the same evidence for a custom knitted underwear manufacturer brief.

Capacity, minimums and price drivers

  1. Ask how many lines run knitted underwear and what share is booked for your window.

  2. Confirm the minimum order quantity (MOQ) per style, per color and per size ratio. See knitted underwear MOQ in Bangladesh and the minimum order quantity definition.

  3. Confirm separate minimums for branded waistband elastic, woven labels, printed tags and retail packs.

  4. Ask for the quotation split by line: fabric, dyeing and finishing, elastic, sewing, labels, packing and delivery. Compare it with the knitted underwear price in Bangladesh guide.

  5. Compare quotations only where specification and term match, because each Incoterms 2020 rule allocates cost, risk and obligations differently.6

  6. Record sample and set-up charges, and which are credited against a bulk order. See wholesale knitted underwear in Bangladesh.

Example figures: 3,600 pieces across three styles gives 1,200 per style; across six sizes, 200 per size. Example figures only: the per-size figure falls as sizes widen, which can decide whether a minimum is met, not a typical MOQ or price.

Samples, labels and market rules

  1. Order a pre-production sample in your actual fabric, color, waistband, labels and pack format, and measure and wash it before approval.

  2. Approve the sample, or list corrections, in writing, and keep one sealed reference sample.

  3. Check the sewn-in content label: for the European Union, it names each fibre and its percentage by weight in descending order;7 the United Kingdom rule states the same.8

  4. For the United States, check fibre disclosure against 16 CFR Part 3039 and that care instructions sit on a permanent label, as 16 CFR Part 423 requires.10

  5. Check size labels, ratios and multipack contents against the order. Brand owners should see the private label knitted underwear in Bangladesh guide before approving artwork.

  6. If the supplier cites a certificate, check its scope names your fabric and product, and agree the inspection method in the purchase order, using ISO 2859-1 with thresholds set there.11 Use the knitted underwear quality control checklist.

Documents, payment and shipment

  1. Agree the export document set before production ends: commercial invoice, packing list and the export clearance document.

  2. Check the exporter name matches the legal name at item 1, and that quantities and pack counts match the order.

  3. Agree payment terms in writing, including what event releases each payment.

  4. If a funds hold is proposed, note it applies only when both parties agree, and is released after the supplier files an export clearance document and the buyer confirms completion.12

  5. Confirm the packing list, carton count, size ratios and marks against the order, and file the final document copies.

Common failures and how to fix them

The most common failure is comparing prices that were never for the same garment: one quotation uses a lighter fabric, another leaves out the branded waistband or retail pack, a third uses a different term. Reissue one specification and one term and ask each candidate to re-quote.6

The second failure is the wrong company in the papers, or the sewing factory never named (items 1 to 3). The third is a minimum discovered after sampling, usually per size or on the waistband elastic (items 14 and 15).

The fourth failure is reading a badge as a promise: a badge records a document or photo review, not a guarantee.12 The fifth is a label approved on artwork alone, so the fibre content shipped does not match the fabric ordered. For the European Union and the United Kingdom the content label is a legal statement of fibre names and percentages by weight,7 8 and for the United States fibre disclosure and care labelling sit in 16 CFR Parts 303 and 423,9 10 so proof the sewn label at sample stage.

How Exportain helps

On Exportain, buyers browse suppliers and post a request for quotation (RFQ) on the RFQ board. An RFQ states quantity, target price, destination, Incoterm, certifications and deadline, and category suppliers can quote against it.13 Quotations are versioned with price, MOQ, lead time, Incoterm, payment terms and validity, and accepting one creates an order record.13

Verification is a free document and photo review by staff, each check reviewed separately before a badge is shown, and membership plans never grant a badge.12 Exportain is not a party to the goods contract and does not inspect goods. See how supplier verification works on Exportain.

FAQs

When should this checklist be used?

Use it when you shortlist exporters, before paying for samples, and again at quotation stage, because MOQ, size ratios and document names are confirmed against a specific order.

Who should complete it?

The buyer or the buyer's sourcing agent, using the specification, quotations and supplier documents. One person should own the sheet so candidates are scored the same way.

What are the most common failures?

Quotations compared on different specifications or terms, a legal name that changes between documents, a per-size minimum found late, a badge read as a guarantee, and a label approved unchecked.

Can a third party do it?

Yes. An agent or inspection company can work through it if you give them the specification, delivery term and evidence standard first, and require the supporting documents to be filed.
