Quality Control Checklist for Windbreakers From Bangladesh
Windbreakers quality control checklist for Bangladesh orders: light shell fabric, wind-resistant seams, hood and drawcord, zip closures, cuff and hem seal in wear, packability, lab evidence, labels and light packing, with a numbered checklist, failure fixes and a summary table.
Short answer
This windbreakers quality control checklist covers lightweight shell fabric and coating or lamination where specified, wind-resistant seams, hood and drawcord function, zip and pocket closures, cuff and hem seal in the worn condition, packability, lab evidence for air permeability and spray testing where specified, labels, light packing and the sampling decision. Use it on samples, during production and on finished, packed goods.

On this page
A windbreaker is judged in the worn condition, not on a hanger. A light shell can look clean, yet let wind in at a cuff that does not close, a hem that rides up, a hood that slips, or a zip that gaps at the neck. This checklist starts with the shell, then the seams, hood, closures, cuffs and hem that seal it in wear, the pack test, and lab evidence, labels, packing and sampling.
Why this checklist matters
Jacket faults are often covered faults. A jacket production account describes seven checkpoints, from incoming fabric and trim inspection through cutting, sewing, hardware, finishing and final inspection, with a written or photographic record at each checkpoint.1 Shade banding is decided in the cutting room when panels from different dye lots are grouped, and a zipper tape that looks acceptable flat can pull a front panel out of alignment once worn.1
Hardware must be tested by function, not appearance: zipper cycling for smooth travel, slider retention and no tape distortion, drawcord and toggle operation through the full range, and elastic checked for recovery rather than stretch alone.1 On a light shell, a heavy zipper or stiff tape can distort the fabric, so those tests matter more here.
Wind resistance is a garment result, not a fabric result alone: a garment can still admit wind through sleeves, zips and a loose hem even when the fabric result is low.2 Hence this checklist pairs fabric evidence with worn fit.
Before you start
Approved sample and tech pack. Sealed, approved windbreaker: shell, weave, coating where specified, hood, collar, closures, cuff and hem adjustment, pack pouch.1
Shell specification in writing. Fabric type, weave, coating or lamination, each as a buyer-specification item, not assumed for every windbreaker.
Performance specification in writing. Where a wind, water-repellency or breathability-related result is named, its test, method and recorded result are also named; no numeric threshold is stated here.
Adjustment and packability specification. Hood shape and drawcord range, cuff and hem range, and, where specified, pack pouch type and method, with the worn condition stated.
Measurement method in writing. Each point, condition when measured, zipped or unzipped, hood up or down, and any layer assumed.
Defect list with classes. Faults classed as critical, major or minor, with photos for borderline cases.3
Sampling plan in writing. Standard, level and AQL values specified by the buyer per class, plus the action on a fail.3
The full checklist (numbered, printable)
Mark each item pass, fail or not applicable, and photograph every fail.
Shell fabric. Match sample type, weave, hand, finish; no holes, slubs, stains, coating damage.1
Weave, coating, lamination, where specified. Match named option; no flaking, peeling, uneven coating, delamination at folds.
Shade across panels. Match panels, sleeves, hood, collar, lining under agreed light; rolls grouped by shade before cutting.1
Seams for wind resistance. Type, stitch density, allowance, ends match sample; no open seams, skipped stitches, broken thread.
Taped seams, where specified. Tape bonded, no lifting, bubbles, gaps; check crossings, tape ends, hood seams.1
Hood shape and depth. Shape, depth, attachment match sample; covering as specified when raised, checked worn.
Hood drawcord function. Cords, locks, toggles adjust full range and hold; ends finished, secure; length even both sides.1
Collar fit, worn. Collar flat, zip closed, hood down; no neck gap, no step at hood-to-collar junction.
Main zip operation. Run full length, straight when closed, tape flat, hem meeting without step; no catching, tooth separation, tape distortion.1
Zip cover, where specified. Storm flap or zip garage covers zip as specified, lies flat, does not catch in slider.
Pocket closures. Pocket zips run full length without catching; snaps firm where specified; bags secure; pockets flat, no gaping.
Cuff adjustment and seal. Adjust full range and hold; elastic recovers after gentle stretch; even both sides; seal at wrist worn.1
Hem adjustment and coverage. Adjust full range and hold; even around body; stays in place with arms raised; covers as specified.
Ventilation, where specified. Pit zips, vents, mesh panels at specified position; open and close cleanly; no gaping.
Chest width. Agreed condition, chart and buyer-specified tolerance, zip closed.
Body length. Front and back same way; front not riding up when closed, hem set as specified.
Shoulder and sleeve. Width and length, left and right, chart and tolerance; sleeves match; movement checked worn.
Pocket placement and symmetry. Height, size, position match left and right; accessible worn.
Surface and decoration. No holes, snags, stains, shine marks, coating damage; print, embroidery, badge position match artwork where specified.1
Packability, where specified. Fold into own pouch or pocket by specified method; closure works; no seam strain at join; unpacked piece compared with sample.
Colorfastness and coating evidence. Lab reports under named methods, against buyer specification.
Air-permeability evidence, where specified. Lab report names test, states method, records result. Air permeability measures airflow through fabric at a stated pressure; results from different methods cannot be compared directly.2 One method used is ISO 9237.2
Spray-test evidence, where specified. Lab report names test, states method, records result. The spray test applies 250 ml of water at 27 degrees Celsius, plus or minus 1 degree, onto a specimen inclined at 45 degrees, then rates wetting against a photographic scale from 0 to 100; it measures surface wetting, not penetration.4
Breathability-related evidence, where specified. Lab report names test, states method, records result. Higher air permeability is cooler in wind, lower keeps more wind out; the buyer specification states which result the order requires.2
Needle control. Detection record confirmed; alarmed piece quarantined.1
Labels and barcodes. Content, spelling, position correct; size label matches measured size; barcodes scan.
Light packing. Folding, polybag size and sealing, carton assortment per list; dimensions, gross weight, marks per instructions.
Sampling decision. Agreed plan applied to finished, packed lot; decided only on counts against agreed acceptance and rejection numbers.

Common failures and how to fix them
Wind entering at the cuff or hem. Check adjustment range and elastic recovery, then worn fit, before changing shell fabric. A cuff or hem that cannot hold its setting is a closure fault.
Hood that slips or narrows vision. Check attachment, cord length both sides and cord-lock hold, hood raised, head turned. Correct hood pattern or cord setting.
Drawcord lock that slips. Operate the lock through its full range and check cord-end finish. A lock holding flat and slipping in wear points to the lock or cord pairing; replace it to the sample.
Zip catching or tape waviness on a light shell. Test flat and worn, since a flat-looking tape can distort once closed and under tension.1 Check hardware weight against shell weight, replace slider or re-attach tape, then re-test.
Coating flaking at fold lines. Check coating at folds, cuffs and pouch join, not only flat panels. Flaking following folds points to coating or folding method; correct it.
Pouch seam strained after packing. Pack and unpack by the specified method and inspect pouch join and closure. A strained join means pouch size, pack method or seam construction does not suit the shell.
Spray result falling after washing, where wash durability is specified. Re-check test method and wash condition, and compare washed and unwashed samples under the same method.

Use the standard table values for your agreed plan. As a published example only, lot 91 to 150, General Inspection Level II, code letter F, sample size 20, acceptance and rejection 1 and 2 for major defects at AQL 2.5 and 2 and 3 for minor defects at AQL 4.0.3 AQL numbers are agreed in the purchase order, not mandated by the standard; a pre-shipment inspection samples finished, mostly packed goods, not every piece.5
How Exportain helps
Exportain does not inspect goods itself, and its supplier checks are document and photo reviews, not factory inspections.5 Use Exportain to put the checklist into the order: post the requirement, including shell, hood and drawcord, closures, cuff and hem adjustment, measurement method, defect list, lab methods, packability and sampling plan. Note that the Exportain inspection services category page currently renders "No services published in this category yet", so arrange inspection directly with a provider and record the booking in the purchase order.
FAQs
When should this checklist be used?
Use it on the first sample, during production when a fault can still be corrected, and on finished, packed goods before shipment.1
Who should complete it?
The buyer, the supplier and any third-party inspector should all work from the same checklist: the supplier checks its own work, while the buyer, or an inspector working to the buyer's checklist, makes the sampling decision.5
What are the most common failures?
Wind entering at the cuff or hem, a hood that slips, a drawcord lock that slips, a zip catching, coating flaking at folds, a pouch seam strained after packing, and a spray result falling after washing where wash durability is specified. Each is listed above with its fix.
Can a third party do it?
Yes. A pre-shipment inspection is usually arranged through an independent third-party firm, and whoever books it is the firm's client and receives the report, so if you book it, the inspector works to your checklist and pass criteria.5 Give the firm the purchase order, specification, sample details, hood and drawcord construction, measurement chart, packability method and packing requirements.
