Short answer

Exportain Buyer Protection gives buyers a recorded quotation trail, document-reviewed supplier badges, private document storage, and a reporting route, but it does not guarantee refunds or delivery. Payment settles directly unless both sides agree a funds hold, and Exportain is not a party to the contract.

Exportain Buyer Protection is a set of platform controls: document review for suppliers who apply for verification, a quotation history both sides can see, private document storage, and a way to report problems. The buyer protection page states the limit plainly: nothing on the page is a guarantee Exportain does not operate.1

What it is

Buyer Protection is not a single promise at checkout. It is separate parts, each with a different job. Supplier verification is a document review by the Exportain verification team. Suppliers submit separate checks for identity, phone and email, business registration, export registration, and factory or office photos, and each submission is approved, returned for changes, or rejected.1 Approved checks earn trust badges on supplier profiles and product listings. A badge is a record of checks reviewed. It is not a capacity, quality, or delivery guarantee, and it cannot be purchased.1

The recorded quotation trail is the second part. An RFQ, every quotation version, every counter-offer, and the accepted terms are stored server-side, and both parties see the same history, including unit price, MOQ, lead time, Incoterm, payment terms, and validity date.1 Accepting a quotation creates an order record with those terms attached.1 The Trust Center describes verification in the same terms: a document review, not a factory inspection and not a check against any government database.2

Payment is the third part, and disputes and reporting are the fourth. Payment for goods is settled directly between buyer and supplier on the terms in the accepted quotation, unless both agree to a funds hold.1 Exportain does not guarantee refunds.1 For a trade in goods, Exportain holds money only when both parties agree, and the supplier can ask for a funds hold of up to the order value, which the buyer may pay by card or decline.2 If a dispute is raised on a held amount, the money is frozen and Exportain staff decide whether to release it or refund it to the card.1 The buying guide states the same step in short form: settle on the accepted terms directly, with inspection and shipment conditions agreed in writing first.3

Who it is for

Buyer Protection is for international buyers sourcing from Bangladesh through Exportain. It is most useful to a buyer who compares suppliers on the platform, reads badges before relying on them, and keeps commercial terms inside the quotation record. A buyer who settles outside the platform, or agrees terms in a side channel and never records them, gets less value from the trail, because the trail is the evidence Exportain can review later.

The other side is Bangladeshi sellers. Seller plans are listed separately on the membership page: Free, Gold, and Platinum, with different listing quotas, inquiry limits, and team seats.4 Membership never grants a verification badge, and verification is reviewed separately.2 The supplier directory lists registered suppliers, with trust badges shown on each row that has earned them.5 The RFQ pages present open buying leads that registered Bangladeshi suppliers can quote against.6

Step-by-step with screenshots

The steps below follow the published platform text rather than reproducing screens, which the public platform pages do not show. The diagram below shows the protection flow in six stages.

  1. Check what each badge covers before you rely on it. Read the badge on the supplier profile or product listing, then check which submission it represents: identity, phone and email, business registration, export registration, or factory or office photos.1 A badge for export registration does not answer a question about factory capacity.

  2. Keep the commercial terms in the quotation record. State the terms in the RFQ and in the quotation thread, and counter-offer in the same thread, so every version stays attached to the same requirement.1

  3. Agree the full set of terms in writing before paying. Before paying, agree the Incoterm, payment schedule, inspection, and shipment terms in writing, using the quotation record as the place to do it.1 This matters most on a direct settlement, where no funds hold stands between buyer and supplier, because Exportain does not guarantee refunds on a direct payment.1

  4. Decide on a funds hold, if one is offered. A supplier can ask for a funds hold of up to the order value, and the buyer chooses whether to pay it by card or decline it.1 Exportain keeps a paid hold until the supplier has filed an export clearance document and the buyer has confirmed the trade complete, then releases it to the supplier.1

  5. Confirm completion, or raise a dispute on the order. If either party disputes a held amount, the money is frozen and Exportain staff decide whether to release it or refund it to the card.1 If a supplier does not honour accepted terms, contact Exportain with the order reference, so the team can review the recorded RFQ, quotation, and message history.1 Exportain may suspend or remove accounts that breach the terms of use, but it does not arbitrate commercial disputes and does not act as a party to the contract.1

  6. Report suspected fraud or misrepresentation separately. Counterfeit certificates, misrepresented products, or someone claiming to act for a factory they do not represent should be reported to the trust and safety team, where reports are reviewed by a person.1

Tips

  • Read the badge, not the label around it. Membership governs listing and inquiry limits, while a badge records a check the Exportain team has reviewed.2 4

  • Put inspection and shipment terms in the record before money moves. Once a direct payment is made, the written terms are what both sides can point to.1

  • Treat a funds hold as an agreed tool, not as automatic cover. A hold only exists when both parties agree to it, and it only covers up to the order value asked for.1

  • Do not let a badge replace a sample or an inspection. Verification is a document and photo review, not a factory inspection.2

FAQs

Is it free?

The platform pages read for this guide do not list a buyer fee for buyer protection, for searching the catalog, or for posting an RFQ. The membership page lists seller plans only: Free at no charge, Gold at 499 BDT per month, and Platinum at 999 BDT per month, governing seller listing quotas and inquiry limits rather than buyer access.4 Supplier verification is free and never purchased, and membership plans never grant a trust badge.2

How long does it take?

No fixed timeline for buyer protection is published on the platform pages read for this guide. Verification timing, supplier responses, and quotation versions all affect the pace, and no page states a number of days for any of them. Where a funds hold is used, the hold is kept until the supplier has filed an export clearance document and the buyer has confirmed the trade complete, and a dispute freezes the amount until Exportain staff decide on release or refund.1

Who can use it?

International buyers sourcing from Bangladesh through Exportain can use the protection parts described here, and registered Bangladeshi suppliers are the other side of the recorded trail.5 6 Buyer and supplier accounts confirm ownership of an email address or phone number with a one-time code.2 Resolve any account check problem before accepting terms, since the quotation trail and any dispute review are tied to the account behind the trade.

Where can I get support?

If a supplier does not honour accepted terms, contact Exportain with the order reference, so the team can review the recorded RFQ, quotation, and message history.1 If the problem is suspected fraud or misrepresentation, such as a counterfeit certificate or a company claiming a factory it does not represent, report it to the trust and safety team, where reports are reviewed by a person.1 Exportain may suspend or remove accounts that breach the terms of use, but it does not act as a court and cannot compel payment or delivery.2
