Editorial policy
This policy explains how articles published on the Exportain blog are written, reviewed, sourced, dated and corrected.
Policy last updated: 17 September 2026
Knowledge content
Knowledge content means guides, how-tos, buyer and supplier guides, explainers, definitions, comparisons, checklists, reports, trade intelligence, market research and industry analysis. A knowledge article is published only when:
- it has a named reviewer or fact-checker who is not its author, and
- it cites at least one source.
Guides, how-tos, definitions, explainers and comparisons open with a short, direct answer to the question they cover.
Authors and reviewers
Authors, reviewers and fact-checkers are real, named people, and each is shown on the article with their role. Guest authors are published only with their recorded consent.
How articles are written
Some articles are drafted with the help of writing tools. Every article is researched against the sources it cites, edited and approved by its named author, and checked by a different named reviewer before it is published.
Sources, dates and reviews
Articles list their sources with the dates recorded for them. An article that has been reviewed shows a “Last reviewed” date.
Knowledge content is reviewed again at a set interval:
| Content | Review interval |
|---|---|
| Definitions | Every year |
| Guides, how-tos, buyer and supplier guides, explainers, checklists and comparisons | Every 6 months |
| Reports, trade intelligence, market research and industry analysis | Every 3 months |
An article past its review date is checked again. It keeps its URL: the article is updated in place, not published again at a new address.
Marketplace information
Information about products, suppliers and trust badges comes from Exportain's marketplace data. Trust badges follow the rules published in the Trust & Safety Center.
Corrections
If you find an error in an article, tell us through the contact form. Include the article's address and what is wrong. A corrected article shows the date it was updated.
