UK PM Rishi Sunak Aims To Pass These Laws Before Next Election

Law and Order

The government intends to introduce five pieces of legislation aimed at toughening sentencing and deterring crime.

Cigarettes and Vapes

The Tobacco and Vapes Bill means anyone who was born on or after Jan 1, 2009, will never be allowed to legally buy cigarettes.

Oil Drilling

The Offshore Petroleum Licencing Bill will establish annual licencing rounds for North Sea oil and gas exploration.

Consumer Protection

The government will introduce the Digital Markets, Competition, and Consumers Bill, which will give ministers new tools to combat "drip pricing". It basically occurs when businesses promote a low price online before adding additional fees.

Housing

The Leasehold and Freehold Bill means all new houses in England and Wales will be exempt from having to pay these extra costs, which owners of some properties pay rent to a freeholder.

Football Regulator

The government intends to establish an independent football regulator who will be in charge of investigating club owners and their financial resources.

Trade

UK is planning to introduce a bill to allow it to meet its obligations as it accedes to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
