Inside K3G’s Raichand mansion in the UK
Many believe that the Raichand House in Johar’s cult-classic Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham is in Delhi
Contrary to popular (pop-culture) belief, the Raichand House isn’t a stone’s throw from Old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk area. In fact, it’s not even in India
The property shown as the Raichand House is actually a historic property called Waddesdon Manor, located in Waddesdon village in Buckinghamshire, South East England
The Waddesdon Manor was built
by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild between 1874 and 1885
Ferdinand had built the Renaissance-style mansion to display his unique collection of art and artefacts to the British elite
According to the manor’s official website, it cost Ferdinand somewhere around £1.5 million (Rs 15.9 Crore approx., adjusted for inflation) on its creation
The Waddesdon Manor includes a vestibule, an entrance hall, red drawing room, grey drawing room, library, the Baron’s sitting room, morning room, west hall, west gallery….
…east gallery, dining room, conservatory, breakfast room (separate from the dining room), kitchen, staff quarters, terraces and gardens
Tickets to explore the palatial manor and its priceless collection of Rothschild art start at £13.20
(Rs 1400) for a single adult
