The World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has announced its list of Best Tourism Villages 2023. The list comprises of best villages that are leading the way in nurturing rural areas and preserving landscapes, cultural diversity, local values and culinary traditions. This year, 54 villages from all over the world made it to the list. Here are some of them.

Al Sela, Jordan

Al Sela village has some of the most unique natural and cultural features, including scenic nature and beautiful landscapes of valleys, mountains and plateaus. The village is famous for its rare vegetation cover at the local level, which is an extension of the natural pattern of Wadi Fenyan and the Dana Nature Reserve.

Chacas, Peru

Located on the eastern slope of the majestic Cordillera Blanca, Chacas is not only known for its natural vegetation but also its historical heritage. Dances of pre-Columbian origin have survived in the village for ages.

Dhordo, India

Dhordo is located in Western India's Rann of Kutch area and is an iconic destination of salty marshland. Following the devastating Bhuj earthquake in 2001, the village rebuilt itself and made significant growth in its economy.

Hakuba, Japan

Hakuba is located in the eastern foothills of the Hida Mountains in the northern part of the Japanese Alps. The village is popular as a ski resort. Its main economy depends on outdoor winter activities amongst the alpine scenery and pristine air.

With an average temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, Zapatoca is known as 'The Village with Silk-Like Climate'. It features some of the most beautiful facades with architectural styles ranging from colonial to republican, adorned with vibrant flowers.
