Ed Sheeran celebrated his performance at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant by picking up a takeaway from his local Indian restaurant on his way home.

The singer, 31, who recently became a father for the second time, delivered an emotional rendition of his hit song Perfect to close the pageant.

He revealed in an interview just before his appearance at Buckingham Palace that he was returning 85 miles home to ‘daddy duties’ afterwards, saying: ‘I think we’re going to have a curry’.

As reported by the East Anglia News Service, Ed was true to his word and arrived to pick up a takeaway on Sunday night from his favourite Curry India restaurant in his home town of Framlingham.

The hitmaker happily posed for pictures with staff and their children as he picked up dishes including a paneer tikka chilli masala.

The dish, which is flavoured with tomato, green peppers and coriander is described as ‘fairly hot’ on the restaurant’s menu.

The restaurant proudly posted its pictures of Ed on the Framlingham community Facebook page, along with a message saying: ‘Legend back form Platinum Jubilee and had he’s (sic) ‘Paneer tikka Chilli massala”.

‘Thank you very much Our local hero you are such a wonderful person. Money doesn’t change you… we are proud of you. Thank you for your time. Kids was very happy to see you.’

Ed grew up in Framlingham and lives with his family in a nearby village on a rambling estate dubbed Sheeranville by locals.

The owners of Curry India said he has been using the restaurant for ten years, and that he ‘always loves our curry’.

The restaurant has regularly posted pictures of the star picking up meals over the years.

Locals in Framlingham praised Ed for staying loyal to his roots and queuing up with other customers to pick up his latest takeaway.

D Ann Ramsay posted: ‘Brilliant, he said he was going to have a curry on the show so it’s great it was a curry india one, well done ed and Curry India.’

Leslie Pendlebury-Bowe added: ‘He’s just a kind and happy hearted soul. And all that fame and money have done is bring those qualities out even more.’

Jan Woods said: ‘That’s our Ed xx’while Amanda Bailey Frost posted: ‘Does Framlingham proud’. Emma Churchman added: ‘Ed – you legend’

A montage of video clips of the Queen throughout her reign played on a screen as Sheeran sang his romantic ballad while playing the guitar in the final act of the Pageant.

The song was chosen as a tribute to the Queen and her late husband Prince Philip who featured in the nostalgic video footage.

His performance was followed by the Queen briefly appearing on the Buckingham Palace balcony, bringing an end to four days of celebrations marking her 70 years on the throne.

Ed told BBC presenter Anita Rani: ‘For me, this is kind of like a full circle, nostalgia moment because this is the event that I picked up guitar at 20 years ago after seeing Eric Clapton playing on stage.

‘And then I got to play it 10 years ago for the Diamond Jubilee. It’s really, really nice to be back, it’s just a great atmosphere here.’

The singer played his first single The A Team in front of the Queen for her Diamond Jubilee concert in 2012.

He described his return as a ‘surreal’ and ‘pinch yourself’ type moment.

Ed announced last month that he and wife Cherry Seaborn were celebrating the birth of their second daughter.

The couple are already parents to elder daughter Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran who was born in August 2020.
